    fvcom user manual

FVCOM was originally coded for sigma-coordinates in the vertical and now has been upgraded to a generalized terrian-following coordinate system with choices of various topographic-following coordinates. FVCOM is written with Fortran 90 with MPI parallelization, and runs efficiently on single and multi-processor machines. This program is only permitted for use in non-commercial academic research and education. Users are required to register in orde to receive the source codes, demo examples, and user manuals as well as some recommended postprocessing tools. However we do not intent to Page 160 and 161: small scale turbulence.Thank you, for helping us keep this platform clean. The editors will have a look at it as soon as possible. The irregular bottom topography is represented using the s-coordinate transformation, and the horizontal grids are comprised of unstructured triangular cells. FVCOM solves the governing equations in integral form by computing fluxes between non-overlapping horizontal triangular control volumes. This finite-volume approach combines the best of finite- element methods (FEM) for geometric flexibility and finite-difference methods (FDM) for simple discrete structures and computational efficiency. This numerical approach also provides a much better representation of mass, momentum, salt, and heat conservation in coastal and estuarine regions with complex geometry. The conservative nature of FVCOM in addition to its flexible grid topology and code simplicity make FVCOM ideally suited for interdisciplinary application in the coastal ocean. The initial development of FVCOM was started by a team effort led by C. Chen in 1999 at the University of Georgia with support from the Georgia Sea Grant College Program.FVCOM-An unstructured grid Finite-Volume Community Documents Oceanography COASTAL OCEAN MODEL FVCOM Oceanography Vol. 19, No. 1, Mar. 2006 A state-of-the-art coastal ocean cir-culation model system requires: (1) grid.

The model consists of momentum, continuity, temperature, salinity and density equations and is closed physically and mathematically using turbulence closure submodels. The horizontal grid is comprised of unstructured triangular cells and the irregular bottom is preseented using generalized terrain-following coordinates. The General Ocean Turbulent Model (GOTM) developed by Burchard’s research group in Germany (Burchard, 2002) has been added to FVCOM to provide optional vertical turbulent closure schemes. FVCOM is solved numerically by a second-order accurate discrete flux calculation in the integral form of the governing equations over an unstructured triangular grid. This approach combines the best features of finite-element methods (grid flexibility) and finite-difference methods (numerical efficiency and code simplicity) and provides a much better numerical representation of both local and global momentum, mass, salt, heat, and tracer conservation. The ability of FVCOM to accurately solve scalar conservation equations in addition to the topological flexibility provided by unstructured meshes and the simplicity of the coding structure has make FVCOM ideally suited for many coastal and interdisciplinary scientific applications. This model has been upgraded to the spherical coordinate system for basin and global applications. A non-hydrostatic version of FVCOM has been coded and is being tested. FBM includes seven groups: nutrients, autotrophy, heterotrophy, detritus, dissolved organic matter, bacteria, and other. With various pre-built functions and parameters for these groups, GBM allows users to either select a pre-built biological model (such as NPZ, NPZD, etc.) or to build their own biological model using the pre-defined pool of biological variables and parameterization functions.

The CFD model resolves small-scale flows, the FVCOM predicts large-scale background currents, and the resulting hybrid system is able to capture flow phenomena with spatial scales from centimeters to hundreds of kilometers. The coupling is two-way and realized using domain decomposition with aid of Chimera overset grids. Numerical examples are presented to demonstrate the feasibility and performance of the proposed hybrid approach. Published by Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved. ” Williams and her crewmates are working closely with Boeing to develop their new spacecraft systems, which will provide roundtrip crew transportation services to the International Space Station and, along with SpaceX’s CrewDragon, return the ability to launch humans into space from United States soil. Her research explores how the larvae of seafloor invertebrates such as anemones and sea stars disperse to isolated, island-like habitats, how larvae settle and colonize new sites, and how their communities change over time. Kirstin is currently Principal Investigator for an interdisciplinary project on shipwrecks in Stellwagen National Marine Sanctuary, including the steamship Portland, often termed “New England’s Titanic.” This project uses cutting-edge technology to construct 3D photogrammetric models of the Portland and other wrecks for archaeological and biological research and resource management. Kirstin also has ongoing projects in the Arctic and on coral reefs in Palau. Her work frequently takes her underwater using remotely operated vehicles and SCUBA and carries her to the far corners of the world. The coupling between FVCOM and FVCOM-SWAVE was achieved through incorporating 3D radiation stress, wave-current-sediment-related bottom boundary layer, sea surface stress parameterizations, and morphology process. FVCOM also includes a 3D sediment transport module. With accurate fitting of irregular coastlines, the model provides a unique tool to study sediment dynamics in coastal ocean, estuaries, and wetlands where local geometries are characterized by inlets, islands, and intertidal marsh zones. The model was validated by two standard benchmark tests: 1) spectral waves approaching a mild sloping beach and 2) morphological changes of seabed in an idealized tidal inlet. In Test 1, model results were compared with both analytical solutions and laboratory experiments.

A further comparison was also made with the structured grid Regional Ocean Model System (ROMS), which provides an insight into the performance of the two models with the same open boundary forcing. I would contact their tech support and receive an RMA to return it for repair. It will cost you shipping out there but they will ship it back. I has a BenQ FP731 myself and it blew a capacitor inside that allowed the screen to stay on. Fixed it and had it back in 5-7 days. Good luck. All 25 stations now tune O.K. and signal quality still reads in the high 90's and signal strength shows 9-10 bars. This is not substantially any more, but it has done the trick!!! I am still very puzzled why it would not work again in the original position where it has worked well for many years. Obviously DAB requires a good strong signal as I am living very close to the transmitter at Mounteagle in the Black Isle and the set is upstairs in the house to achieve the highest signal into the set's whip aerial. Another annoying query I can give you is this:- Every time I do a full AutoTune operation on the DAB receiver, it ALWAYS comes ON tuning BBC Asian 1st.No matter how many other stations I select and listen to for at least 20secs.Is this a peculiarity of the Sharp design or a function of the transmission system. Maybe this BBC Asian is on the first freq. What do you think ??? It is most likely the inverter. If the unit is in warranty, send it out ASAP. Contact HP customer care by email and have the issue logged in. If in warranty, they will send you a box by FedX second day and have repaired.

Not that sure why it needs a sleep timer and alarm, however it does do things slightly differently to other such offerings. Buy Now. They do a white and a silver finish I looked at the former. It is 32x9x13cm, it has a carrying handle that extends another 3cm above the 9cm of the given height. It runs on 6 ?C? cells and also 2 ?AA? the latter are provided. The 2 ?AA? batteries are to keep the time, station presets and alarm settings when switched off. This was perhaps the most rapid of any of these units I have used. By default stations are listed alphabetically. I had pretty much fathomed out what they all did before consulting the 20 page manual but this should help if you are unsure. You can store up to 20 stations via two button pushes. I see no reason why this should not be used in a bedroom, it was Sharp who called this a ?kitchen radio? There is only a single alarm other DAB radios seem to have two. The sleep timer can be set for any amount of time you wish between 1 and 120 minutes. I note that the sleep and alarm options are not available when run on batteries. However some are less than obvious and here the manual helps out. This unit has the ability to set bass and treble as well or course volume. This unit also supports DRC.Use a text link, or download an image Free Prizedraw Why join. Top reads Invite a friend. Model number is not indicated here and might be helpful. SD TECHI thought I was responsible for the problem because I run the radio of a dual voltage shaver socket and accidentally switched the socket output to 110v. From that point on the radio did excactly what you described. I perservered in trying to find out why but to no avail so I abandoned it. Some months later out of curiosity I plugged it, switched it on and it worked perfectly. Try leaving it unplugged for a few days (which by this time will have already passed). It may just recover like mine did.Second option is cheaper and you can do it yourself. There's a link for a diy guide to fix that issue. All 25 stations now tune O.K. and signal quality still reads in the high 90's and signal strength shows 9-10 bars. I'm convinced it must be a fault with the radio as there's no way I would be not picking up one single station as I usually find a good 50 or so. I do wonder if the fact that I had a similar thing happen a couple of times in recent weeks with stations suddenly been unavailable was a sign that my radio may be starting to have problems. On those occasions it only was like that for a very short period and I was able to get full reception again. I'm just not sure if it's a reception problem I'm having here with DAB in the Birmingham area or my radio is broke. I don't seem to be having a problem switching it on or picking up FM stations on it, just nothing on DAB. I hope some one can maybe give me some advice on this problem. If it is not recieving anything whatsoever then the problem is the system. I don't think there is any logical answer to this.but is there a 'reset' button anywhere on the unit? (usually a very tiny round button hidden away of which you may need a tip of a pen to reset it) you may even need to look at the instruction manual to find it. We had the same problem with an alleged 'Hitachi' micro system a few years ago where the DAB tuner would not pick up anything. Did you buy this model from Curries? A new piece of equipment is brought into use nearby ( it might be in an adjoining house or flat, in another room of your property, or in the same room ). The new piece of equipment generates interference that swamps the weak signal that your DAB receiver is trying to decode. To test your receiver, take it and an extension lead downstairs, and plug the extension lead in so that you can work the receiver outside the property. If your receiver now outoors is able to pick up stations, then this confirms that earlier indoors an item of equipment nearby was killing off the signal indoors. The only solution in this case is to fit an outdoor DAB aerial. No outdoors available. Take the receiver to work and try it, or to a friend's house to try.

I borrowed my Dad's DAB radio and tried it in my flat to see if there were any reception problems here. Said unit had no problem picking up any stations so it's safe to assume that my Sharp radio has the problems. I've even experimented with it in other rooms, but I'm still getting nothing. My main place where I usually use my radio is beside my bed on a small unit, and I usually have the telescopic ariel full extended in a straight up position. I always found this the best set-up for getting good reception on all stations. I do wonder if there is some kind of freeze up as I've had them in the past where it has become stuck on a station. My usual remedy was to take the two internal back up batteries out and do a rescan. As for a reset button I've had a good look, but can't seem to see one anywhere. Sadly can't find the instruction manual either. It's frustrating as I like the unit and the way it sounded and looked. I suppose nearly 4 years of daily use has taken it's toll. The FM still works fine, but I have little use for that on a portable radio to be honest. I guess I'll have to bite the bullet and go out and buy a new one. I know they're are cheaper these days, but I think I may pay more and go for a Roberts or Pure one this time. All Rights Reserved. I've heard the DAB Tuner is probably better in the Pure, but thats not really that important. On closer inspection of the Roberts RD20 manual the interface seems pritty much the same as the Intempo, is it likely their using the same tuners, or is it just an generic front end. Any other reccommendations would be appreciated. Thanks Just checked mine and no it doesn't. It's been running all day every week day since then and it hasn't had a problem. Clear signal, lots of stations in a reasonably weak area and sounds OK but is missing the optical out if you are looking to connect to an amp. I find the rewind to also be a bit of a gimmick as it will only cover a few minutes - good to impress your mates with but that's about all. I think it's still on offer at Richer sounds for about ?70 which is great value. Dave In the end I went for the Roberts over the Pure, simply becuase the FM tuner was better. The DAB tuner is good as well. The speakers it comes with are quite impressive, not too bassy, much clearer then the intempo was. Overall a good buy for ?90, you can get it for ?80 inc del off empire direct atm though. Cheers.

Abs No meu setup, ele e o penultimo, antes do delay. Nao troco ele. It may not display this or other websites correctly. You should upgrade or use an alternative browser. Below it is a list of some of the compatible pedals that will work fine with TC Electronic devices. Please make sure that you use an expression with the required specifications. Alter Ego X4 Flashback Triple Delay Flashback X4 Please read the users manual relating with the device to learn how to setup and calibrate the expression pedal. You may also reset your password. It's definitely not working for me so far. If I need to go buy the Ernie Ball pedal, I'd like to get that settled right now instead of wasting more of my time. On a whim, I decided to try a mono cable. It worked. I don't think it worked optimally, but it worked. The sweep could be smoother from the minimum to maximum values. I set a min. value of 0 for Knob O, Mix, on the Crystals effect, and a max value of about 55. The transition from the minimum to maximum values was not very smooth and even when depressing the pedal. I will probably try the Ernie Ball, if I can find one at my local GC (yes.I'm that desperate). Instead, I will be connecting it to my MIDI controller. I'm a little confused about what CC value I use, as well as how to assign that value to my controller, so I will probably be posting again with a whole other set of questions. What kind of pedal can I use Answer First of all, don't use a standard volume pedal for guitar or bass. All these pedals have a high impedance of 250 kOhm potentiometer (or double sometimes for stereo applications) and most of times, they are equipped with a logarithmic potentiometer. For every TC Electronic devices you'll need a low impedance pedal up to 50 kOhm max with a linear potentiometer. For better results, use preferably a 25 kOhm max. Using a 25K pedal will give you a cleaner sweep. This type of cable is commonly referred to as an insert cable.

For external effects, a versatile effects loop lets you connect anything from effects pedals to professional studio rack units. O 003090 103.-11. 2 122:. 12 CO 12:15 1.: 2 An ultra Hi-Z INPUT jack (1-1) makes sure the vintage single coil pickup sound is at its best. 2. Channel Select 2-1 2-2 The CRUNCH mode switch (3-2) lets you create sounds from clean, distortion-free types to those slightly over driven. The Crunch mode emulates the crunch sound of an overdriven power amp right in the preamp stage, pre serving picking nuances and distortion that tapers off nat urally as you back off on the guitar volume. Use this switch to select the desired amount of distortion and channel VOLUME (3-3) to set level. CH SELECT FOOT SW CH SELECT Switch between the NORMAL channel and LEAD chan nel with the CH SELECT switch (2-1). The channel select ed is indicated by green for NORMAL and red for LEAD. Connecting an optional footswitch to the CH SELECT FOOT SW jack (2-2) lets you switch instantly. The option al BOSS FS-5L has an indicator to let you visually confirm it on the footswitch. Crunch modes: Normal Produces clean, distortion-free sound for jazz or country, as well as ideal rhythm guitar sound for funk. Crunch-1 For a slightly overdriven classic blues guitar sound as well as rock 'n' roll rhythm guitar. Repeated listening tests showed our passive circuit was comparable to an active equalizer and allowed a wider array of sounds to be created. For a sharp sound without any boomnincss, turn the BASS control to a low setting and turn up MIDDLE. For cinplinsizing guitar larnonics, you can also turn up PRESENCE (6-4). Connect any desired effects units by inserting them between the SEND jack (5-3) and RETURN jack (5-4). A Lo-Z send signal reduces noise. The EFFECT knob (5-1) lets you select your desired effect to-dry sound ratio to match the effects units in use. Adjust for desired balance between the dry sound and effected sound.

The PRE VOL knob (4-2) has a wide enough range to pro duce crunch to hard distortion. And this comes with plenty of sustain and feedback, so you won't need over-the-top distortion even if you're after a slash metal sound. Even with hard distortion, you still get good picking response that enhances your playing. And even at low gui tar volume settings, the sound stays natural. The POST VOL knob (4-3) can be used to balance the different volume levels of the NOR MAL and LEAD channels. The LEAD channel also includes a three-band tone con trol (4-4) which is designed to be most effective in the post-distortion stage to enhance distortion sound. You can use BOOST to complement the tone control and PRESENCE (6-4) to cre ate an even wider variety of lead sounds. Adjust REVERB knob (6-2) for the desired amount. Reverb can be switched on and off with an optional foot-switch plugged into to the REVERB footswitch jack (6-1). DRY EFF ORY EFF 115 INPUT SEND RETURN M AIS Roland's brand new proprietary circuit RECTIFEX switch (6-3) is the first of its kind, simulating two completely dif ferent rectifiers — the classic tube rectifier and the mod ern diode rectifier. Switch back and forth, checking out the different compression, attack and picking nuances which result. The differences are much more prominent when using an overdrive sound. Take some time to really check this feature out, and you'll appreciate just how amazing this technological breakthrough is. VOLUME PEDAL EFFECT The active PRESENCE (6-4) control works on the power amp stage to produce effects that are different from tone controls or equalizers to add lustrous highs to the sound, even with hard distortion. MASTER LEVEL (6-5) controls the total sound level of the Blues Cube 60. If you use effects units like these, we recommend controlling the balance between the effected signal and dry signal using the Blues Cube 60's EFFECT level balance knob. The POWER switch (7-1) switches the unit on or off.

ALL MANUALS ARE NOT THE SAME FEATURES Congratulations. You've made the right choice. The Blues Cube 60 is the happy result of using Roland's technological expertise to obtain the best possible sound from your electric guitar. But to get the most out of your Blues Cube 60, you should go through this manual. You don't need to keep most amp manuals.

But this one will explain important stuff about what makes a great sounding amp and how to get that killer tone. Many people were involved in our research. Studio pros, vintage amp col lectors, semipros and general electric guitar enthusiasts all were part of our listening panels. This includes a unique RECTIFEX cir cuit that simulates two rectifier types -- the classic tube rectifier and the modern diode rectifier. It also simu lates their effects on attack and picking nuances. The Blues Cube 60 brings out every aspect of your guitar. OUR DESIGN PHILOSOPHY An electric guitar doesn't come alive until it's plugged in. Your amp can actually be considered part of the instrument. In fact, it's almost like the body of a great acoustic, contributing greatly to the final sound. Even a vin tage guitar can't give you all it's got if you use a mediocre amp. We wanted to produce an amp that would simply sound great, so we went back to amplifier basics to rediscover exactly what great guitar sound is and what a great guitar amp is all about. We analyzed vintage amps from the 50's and 60's, from tweeds to blondes (white tolex-covered beauties) to black face panels as well as a slew of blues breaking British amps, all of them high ly desirable. Not only the typical tube amp characteristics such as warm tones and a creamy overdriven sound, but also practi cal factors that make it possible to recreate other tube-like character istics such as playing feel. Tube Logic technology can faithfully emulate such characteristics that are impor tant in producing good guitar sounds, but previously didn't have much attention paid to them. ? Two-channel configuration --- NOR MAL channel and LEAD channel, each with a dedicated circuit for indepen dent sound characteristics. And with the power amplifier section going into soft clipping, the speaker will deliver an SPL much high er than its rated 60W R.M.S. ?

The plastic vent tubing is easy to cut--of course, they should have made at least one of the two tube lengths match the width of a standard exterior wall. No cuts would have been even easier (they make exterior door frames that way). They were smart enough to supply stainless steel screws. It looks attractive inside and out. White on the inside and beige on the outside. As a construction element, one that will be installed permanently in the wall, you'd want it to hold up for years. This plastic and the operating part of it will probably only last a few years before it wears out or the plastic starts cracking from sun exposure. The company who sold and shipped it, did they job nicely.

Contractors, builders, architects and homeowners rely on us for our quality and for the wide array of solutions we offer from bathroom fans with both motion and humidity sensors to remote in-line fans. Our entire line is ENERGY STAR qualified, where guidelines exist, and we re proud to have been named an ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year for 2010 and 2011 in recognition of our longstanding commitment to energy efficiency and conserving our planet s resources. The idea of delivering a breath of fresh air to our customers is consistent with a simple mission statement eloquently articulated by our founder nearly a century ago: Panasonic serves society with high-quality products that make peoples everyday lives more healthy, productive and enjoyable. This guiding principle continues to drive everything we do and is what we call ideas for life. Fresh air driven by fresh ideas. Pollutants such as smoke, formaldehyde, dust, humidity and VOCs accumulate in a poorly vented building. Ventilation fans help to maintain indoor air flow and air quality.

Ideally, an airtight home designed with both continuous and intermittent ventilation will contribute to a healthy and comfortable living environment for the entire family. Today s homes are designed and built to improve energy efficiency. However, these airtight homes may actually cause health problems due to the build-up of pollutants and uncirculated stale air. What do they need? Mechanical ventilation. Airtight Homes Homes designed and built in recent years are more airtight and energy efficient than in the past. To obtain this airtight design, house wraps, newly designed windows and doors, sealing caulks and other insulating materials are used to create better energy efficiency. The resulting benefit is fewer drafts, which lowers the cost to heat and air-condition a home. But pollutants retained in airtight buildings can be hazardous to their occupants and can jeopardize structural integrity. That s why Panasonic stresses a build tight and ventilate right platform. Proper mechanical ventilation design can address poor indoor air quality, while retaining energy efficiency. Biological Pollutants Biological pollutants, to some degree, are found in all homes. These include mold, mildew, pollen, dust mites, pet dander, viruses and bacteria. Accumulation of these biological pollutants can result in hazardous health effects for the occupants, as well as structural damage to the building. Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) Volatile Organic Compounds are carbonbased compounds that easily evaporate. Formaldehyde and these types of gases are released from building materials, carpets, furniture and many other solid household items as part of aging, decomposition or curing, all of which are natural processes known as off-gassing. Some other household items that emit VOCs include hair sprays, paints, lacquers, finishes, oven cleaners and other cleaning solvents, pesticides, etc. Often colorless and odorless, VOCs can ultimately sensitize certain people to react to them.

Built-in metal flange provides blocking for penetrations through drywall as an air barrier, and assists with the decrease in leakage in the building envelope during blower door testing. Doublehanger bar systems allow for ideal positioning. Energy Savings When it comes to energy efficiency, our wattage requirements are among the lowest in the industry ensuring low cost operation. The product line of ventilation install supplies by Panasonic comprises passive inlet vents, ceiling radiation dampers, wall caps with adaptors and many other items that have various applications in ventilation install. The passive inlet helps to keep the humidity of the inside air relative and maintain healthy environment of the house. The tool features a special foam pad that allows reducing noise from outdoors and condensation. It also possesses a washable air filter, bug screen and operates in two positions of air delivery.

Ways to improve indoor air quality The first step to improve indoor air quality should be to reduce or remove the source of the pollutants. Unfortunately, indoor pollutants are virtually impossible to eliminate completely, creating the need for a second step to improve indoor air quality mechanical ventilation. Mechanical ventilation is used to remove stale, moist, polluted air and replace it with fresh outside air. Two widely used methods in today s building industry are continuous and intermittent ventilation. Continuous Ventilation Sometimes referred to as general, central, whole-house or primary ventilation, continuous ventilation is used to remove stale air and provide fresh air on a slow, continuous basis. A well-designed airtight home can generally use low volume continuous ventilation. Intermittent Ventilation Sometimes referred to as spot, local or secondary ventilation, intermittent ventilation is used to capture and remove pollutants quickly at the source. Pockets of excessive moisture and pollutants can build up in the bathroom, kitchen, utility room, garage and home office. This secondary process serves to exhaust these problem areas quickly, before bad air can spread throughout the house. Just as important as continuous ventilation, intermittent ventilation complements the effort to improve indoor air quality. Both systems exhaust pollutants from the air, but intermittent ventilation is more effective in concentrated areas. Sizing Information and Instructions Properly sized ventilation in airtight homes helps to ensure healthy indoor air quality. Both intermittent (spot) and continuous (whole house) ventilation should be considered. Intermittent ventilation is used to exhaust sources of moisture and odors, while continuous ventilation is used to remove accumulated indoor air pollutants. Airtight Homes The first step when sizing for a ventilating fan is to determine the application.

Decide whether you are sizing for intermittent or continuous ventilation (see pages 6 and 7). If intermittent, determine which application, (i.e. bathroom, kitchen or other). Use the following industry recommendations to determine Air Changes per Hour (ACH) for your specific application. The most current version, ASHRAE, calls for continuous mechanical ventilation as shown below. I. House or apartment CFM per person plus 1 CFM per 100 square feet The second step is to calculate the area being ventilated. Calculate square feet or cubic feet depending on which sizing method you choose. The third step is to calculate the Equivalent Duct Length of the planned duct run. This requires a basic understanding of static pressure caused by a duct run design and its components. Static Pressure and Duct Run: A ventilating fan must overcome resistance when pulling air through the grille and pushing it through the duct and cap to the outside of the building. This resistance is known as static pressure. Double-hanger bar systems allowing for ideal positioning. Energy Savings For high energy efficiency, input wattage readings are among the lowest in the industry. Airflow A built-in damper in all ceiling-mounted models prevents backdraft. Green Manufacturing All fan only models are RoHS Approved.B Equivalent Duct Length (EDL): The Equivalent Duct Length Table (Figure B) shows you how to calculate the equivalent straight duct length in order to overcome static pressure. The EDL chart helps ensure fan performs as expected under the airflow resistance caused by the listed components. A ventilating fan s performance is plotted on a graph called a performance curve. The performance curve shows airflow in cubic feet per minute (CFM) along the horizontal axis and static pressure (resistance) along the vertical axis. Figure A shows how a performance curve works.

The fan with a Closed Duct has high static pressure and no airflow; and the fan with No Duct has low static pressure and high airflow. In reality, an installed fan will be somewhere in between these two points. Performance Curves are listed on pages Sizing and selecting a Ceiling Mounted Fan: Proper sizing requires that you determine the needed CFM, the square footage of the room or home, and the length and type of duct. Example: Sizing for an 8 ft x 10 ft x 8 ft ceiling bathroom using 12 foot long, 4 inch diameter aluminum flex duct, one elbow, one wall cap. Step 5: Review models in catalog pages to find a model with desired feature. Features may include light fixture, heater or low-profile housing. Note: Check with your local building inspector to confirm that these methods are accepted in your area. Static Pressure (Resistance) Closed or Blocked duct work A closed or blocked exhaust port results in highest static pressure and zero air flow. Extended Duct work Long duct length and elbows increase static pressure and reduce air flow. Duct work Duct increases static pressure and reduces air flow. Short Duct work Short duct allows low static pressure and higher air flow. Dehumidistats can be and building structure are protected. These controls are most likely to ventilation systems. Some controls to be used in bathrooms to evacuate are more suitable for intermittent or excessive moisture. Dehumidistats have continuous ventilation. Select Panasonic a few disadvantages. C Installation A practical guide to Panasonic fan installation Best PVC or Galvanized Better Aluminum Flex Good Insulated Flex Proper fan installation is necessary to optimize performance. The following points outline installation techniques to help achieve optimum performance. IMPORTANT: In order to reduce elbows and optimize fan performance, install the fan with the exhaust port pointed in the direction of the termination point. Be sure to use the duct diameter size specified for the selected fan. Reducing the duct diameter (at any point in the duct run) will create substantial static pressure and reduce the fan s performance by as much as 90%. Selecting Duct: A smooth surface duct allows for optimum airflow. See Figure C. For best results, use galvanized sheet metal or possibly PVC. Flexible aluminum duct is durable, easy to install and often used.
